Summer holidays, 1978.

 

The small rural village of Jennings Corners.

 

Addie O’Riley, a feisty 11-year-old show-off the adults call “trouble”, and straight-as-an-arrow Christopher MacFarlane,12, who isn’t sure he should be her friend, but somehow can’t resist.

 

It starts as a midnight adventure. It’s meant to be a lark.

 

What they find is something that shocks them.
